SF, MAY 2014 -- Kellerson Productions is proud to present a new adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula. One of the most iconic monsters of all time comes back to life in this faithful re-telling. Directed by Becky Hirschfeld, Dracula opens Friday, May 1st and runs through Saturday, May 31st at Shelton Theater, SF.

At the turn of the 20th century, Jonathan Harker travels from the enlightened modernity of London to a crumbling castle in the remote countryside of Transylvania--only to find himself unwittingly imprisoned in Castle Dracula. The Count turns his evil eye upon the solicitor's loved ones and slowly begins taking over their lives. When Harker's friends and fiancée learn the truth, this unlikely group of heroes must band together to stop the Count from inflicting his dark agenda upon England.

“I'm excited to bring Dracula to the stage that shows the perspective of his victims,” says writer Jennifer Keller. “Rather than a scary, be-fanged, blood-sucking monster being the central focus,  the real horror in Dracula is the hardship endured by the innocents--the mental and physical stress sustained by those conditioned to ignore their emotional needs, the temptation of being offered gender equality at the cost of personal integrity, the sudden loss of a bright future.  These themes get lost in the flashy re-tellings.  Our goal was to bring these original elements to the fore, and to highlight that Stoker's tale was much more progressive than many give it credit for.”

Dracula runs May 1 - 31, 2014 with shows Thursday - Saturday at 8pm at the Shelton Theater, 533 Sutter Street (near Powell), SF.  Tickets are $30 online at kellersonsdracula.brownpapertickets.com, or $35 at the door.  More information at sfdracula.blogspot.com
